This portal offers health care providers with exclusive, downloadable educational tools and viewable web lectures prepared by Diane K. Newman, DNP, ANP-BC, FAAN. Ms. Newman, who is co-director of the Penn Center for Continence and Pelvic Health, provides essential insights into the clinical application of intermittent catheterization in a four-part webinar that outlines definitions, techniques for usage, complications, and self-teaching tools for patients. Ms. Newman explained, “this website is unique as it not only provides, for both professionals and patients, the nuts and bolts of intermittent catheterization, it also provides the current evidence-based research to guide best practices for IC use.” The microsite will continue to expand by providing readers with the latest evidence-based, clinical information on IC techniques, procedures, and best practices.

Earlier in 2013, UroToday launched the first in a planned series of educational resource centers focused exclusively on indwelling urinary (Foley) catheters. “Since launching the indwelling catheter center, UroToday continues to provide not only the evidence-based research on the use of these devices, but updates practice issues for clinical use,” Newman further explained.
