Defining Bladder Health - Ariana Smith

May 14, 2018

Colleagues at the University of Pennsylvania, Ariana Smith, MD and Diane Newman, DNP discuss The Prevention of Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms, (PLUS), a consortium funded by the NIH and NIDDK.

PLUS is a group of multidisciplinary researchers and practitioners that come from a broad range of expertise and the aim of the program is to plan, perform, and analyze the research studies that are needed to help researchers conduct future prevention and intervention studies for lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in women.  The consortium focuses on symptoms including urinary incontinence, urinary frequency, nocturia, urgency, trouble urinating and pain in the bladder area before, during or after urinating.

At the 2018 SUFU meeting, Ariana presented Defining Bladder Health in Women and Girls: Implications for Research, Clinical Practice, and Public Health Promotion, a poster presentation and she overviews her presentation and the relationship to the (PLUS) Consortium and bladder health.
