Daly also revealed in his interview that “there’s an 85 percent chance it comes back” and that while his initial treatment was successful, his prognosis is uncertain. Bladder cancer has one of the highest recurrence rates of all cancers, making it the single most expensive cancer to treat over a patient’s lifetime.
BCAN CEO Andrea Maddox-Smith said: “Our thoughts are with Mr. Daly and his loved ones during this very difficult time. It is unfortunately true that bladder cancer will often recur.”Daly commented about his diagnosis that “It’s probably going to come back, and then another three months that you don’t know. You just don’t know.”
Bladder cancer is among the most common cancers in the United States, yet one of the least known and understood. Signs and symptoms of bladder cancer include blood in the urine and frequency and urgency to urinate. Maddox-Smith added, “Bladder cancer can be highly treatable when caught in its early stages and we hope and pray that this is the case with Mr. Daly.”
