The Canadian Endourology Group Stent Symptom Score (CEGSSS) is a concise questionnaire developed to assess patients' ureteral stent-related symptoms. To support its worldwide applicability, we present the initial phases of its adaptation to French, offering a replicable framework for future translations.
The original CEGSSS underwent forward-backward translation and was reviewed by a multidisciplinary committee. The pre-final French version (FR-CEGSSS) was pilot-tested in iterative cycles, with French-speaking urologists and patients completing questionnaires to assess the clarity and relevance of its items.
The FR-CEGSSS was completed by 15 patients and 6 urologists. Its questions, language and vocabulary were rated as easy or very easy to understand by 93% of patients and 100% of urologists. On relevance, the questionnaire reached a scale-level content validity index of 0.97.
We present a transparent, replicable framework for CEGSSS translation. Comprehensive psychometric testing is required for the FR-CEGSSS to be considered valid for clinical and research use.
