Genetic Testing in Inherited Prostate Cancer
Dr. Alcaraz presented on genetic testing in inherited prostate cancer (PC), summarizing what is known on the subject today. Reflex Testing with Serum, Urine and Tissue Biomarkers: Which, When and How Viable?
Dr. Djavan gave an insightful presentation about reflex testing with serum, urine and tissue biomarkers. Prostate cancer (PC) is the most common non-cutaneous cancer diagnosed and the second most common cause of cancer deaths in men worldwide. Unfortunately, over diagnosis of indolent disease, may have a minimal effect on patient survival.

Morphologic Basis of mpMRI Prostate Cancer Evaluation
Dr. Algaba outlined the morphologic basis of multiparametric MRI in prostate cancer (PC) evaluation. The mpMRI has 2 morphologic sequences (T1+T2) and 3 functional sequences (diffusion weighted imaging [DWI] + perfusion MRI + Proton spectroscopy). MpMRI correlates with the distribution of the glands in the stroma and the amount of water in the tissue.

MRI imaging Targeted Biopsy – Fusion Biopsy
Dr. Sanchez Salas presented on the advantages of performing a multiparametric MRI -ultrasound fusion targeted biopsy. Most of the solid organ cancers are detected with precise, targeted biopsy of the abnormal lesions, while prostate biopsy technique is random, non-targeted and non-systematic, relying mostly on cancer detection by chance, and cognitive memory of the physician performing the biopsy.

MRI in-bore Guided Biopsies
Dr. Sedelaar gave his perspective of in-bore MRI guided biopsies. The first case reports of in-bore MRI guided biopsies were reported in the year 2000, and recently in 2017, there have been more than 20 publications worldwide, with one series encompassing more than a 1000 patients.

MRI in Men on Active Surveillance for Prostate Cancer: The PRECISE Recommendations
Dr. Caroline Moore gave a summary talk on the PRECISE MRI guidelines. There is growing interest in, and use of, MRI in men on active surveillance for low to intermediate risk prostate cancer (PC). A systematic review in 2014 [1] showed that there was no consistency in reporting the MRI data, either for an individual patient, or across cohorts, for men on active surveillance (AS).
