State of the Art Presentation: Flucicovine F18 (FACBC) in Prostate Cancer

Dr. Cristina Nanni, a leader in the development of Flucicovine (18)F-FACBC presents why F18 can be considered an alternative tracer superior to (11)C-choline in the setting of patients with biochemical relapse after radical prostatectomy. 

Application of 18F-labeled PSMA-imaging using [18F]DCFPyL at very low PSA-values may allow curative treatment in recurrent prostate cancer. 

Alexander E. Drzezga MD from University of Cologne, Cologne, Germany presented new data at the 2016 Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging annual meeting.  This study is to investigate the ability of F-18 to detect recurrent prostate cancer and metastasis in contrast to that of published data of Ga-68 PSMA-HBED-CC.

Fluciclovine F18 (FACBC): An Amino Acid Tracer for the Staging of Recurrence Prostate Cancer

Jonathan Allis, D. Phil Biochemistry, CEO of Blue Earth Diagnostics Ltd. presented the data at the 2016 Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Conference on the recent FDA approval of Flucicovine F18 (FACBC), trade name Axumin®.  Flucicovine is a synthetic amino acid based PET agent, which has been approved in men with suspected prostate cancer recurrence based on elevated PSA.

Tond Velde Bogsrud, MD PhD, from the Oslo University Hospital in Olso, Norway presented new data at the 2016 Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging annual meeting. The study was conducted to determine whether FACBC PET can help disease staging prior to selection of definitive primary treatment.
