Tuesday, 01 April 2008
MILAN, ITALY (UroToday.com) - When a patient comes to the pharmacist in the future he may state: “Here is my sequence”. This could be a consequence of the development of targeted therapies as presented by Chris Evans. He pointed out that molecular profile of a patient will have an increasing impact on the selection patients for a diagnostic procedure or even a specific therapy.

EAU 2008 - Advances in Targeted Therapy and Tissue Engineering in Urology
Tuesday, 01 April 2008
MILAN, ITALY (UroToday.com) - Dr. Evans (Sacramento) presented a lecture on targeted therapies. Most drugs have a mechanistic “target”, such as the enzymes 5-α reductase in the treatment of BPH or 5-phosphodiesterase in the treatment of erectile dysfunction. However, in the current presentation, “targeted therapy” is defined as molecular targeting.

EAU 2008 - Advanced Age Predisposes to Higher Rate of Biochemical Recurrence After Radical Prostatectomy
Friday, 04 April 2008
MILAN, ITALY (UroToday.com) - The efforts towards an earlier prostate cancer (PCa) diagnosis led to a decrease in the mean age in PCa detection, which in turn translated into younger men treated with radical prostatectomy (RP) and more localized stage at RP. This work hypothesized that the age at RP maybe an independent predictor of biochemical recurrence (BCR) after RP.
