Prostate Cancer Highlights from SUO 2017 - Thomas Keane

Dr. Thomas Keane reviews recent data presented at the SUO 2017 conference focusing on highlights from the prostate cancer session.  He reviews a number of presentations including Prostate Cancer Anxiety in Men Undergoing Active Surveillance (AS), a talk presented by Karim Marzouk, MD, FRCSC.  In this analysis, the authors use prospective data from a large institutional cohort of men on AS to address the issue of anxiety.  Among the other presentations Dr. Keane reviews is a talk by Daniel W. Lin, MD on From Biopsy, AS vs Rx: Stratifying Risk in Localized PCa.  A third talk on Trials, Trends, and Models: Synthesizing the Evidence on Prostate Cancer Screening by Paul Pinsky, PhD. as well as a presentation by Kareem Rayn, BS "BMI is Not a Risk Factor for Active Surveillance Progression".  He concludes with highlighting "The REASSURE ME Trial, a study supporting emotion regulation, positive health behaviors, and surveillance adherence for men with prostate cancer on active surveillance.
