Trichomonas vaginalis is a rare finding in urine cytology specimens, especially those from men; only 2 case reports have been described in the literature. The authors of the current report sought to determine the incidence and clinical significance of this finding in urine cytology in males.

The urinary system, primarily responsible for the filtration of blood and waste, is affected by several infectious and inflammatory conditions. Focusing on the lower tract, this review outlines the physiological and immune landscape of the urethra and bladder, addressing key immunological and microbiological aspects of important infectious/inflammatory conditions.

In contemporary urological practice periurethral abscesses are rare. We report the case of a 61-year-old presenting with a painless penile mass and urinary retention. He underwent imaging with ultrasonography, targeted antibiotics and successful source control through open incision and drainage.
