The article describes the tumorigenesis of bladder cancer from a pathological perspective in three dimensions: morphology, genetics and epigenetics. Field cancerization and tumor cell migration/seeding are the two main hypotheses used for explaining synchronous and metachronous tumors in the urinary tract.
