New York Academy of Medicine awards 2014-2015 Ferdinand C. Valentine Fellowship for Research in Urology to Padriac O’Malley, MD

NEW YORK, NY USA (Press Release) - August 22, 2014 - The New York Academy of Medicine has selected Padriac O’Malley, MD, Urological Oncology Fellow at Weill Cornell Medical College, to receive its prestigious 2014-2015 Ferdinand C. Valentine Fellowship for Research in Urology. Dr. O’Malley’s research project is titled “Development of Novel Diagnostic Imaging Applications for Prostate Cancer.”

“NYAM is deeply committed to conducting and advancing evidence-based research to improve the public’s health, and we are pleased to support Dr. O’Malley’s critical research in urology,” said Jo Ivey Boufford, MD, NYAM President.

The Ferdinand C. Valentine Fellowship, established in 1963, offers a one-year, $50,000 fellowship in support of research by an individual who has completed, or will shortly complete, residency training acceptable to the American Board of Urology, and who intends to pursue an academic research career in urology.

Each year, The New York Academy of Medicine awards more than $350,000 in grants and fellowships to medical students, seasoned physicians, and investigators to support the advancement of health care studies.
