AUA 2011 - Evaluation of pentosan polysulfate sodium in the treatment of feline interstitial cystitis: A randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial - Session Highlights

WASHINGTON, DC USA (UroToday.com) - Dr. Larry Adams and colleagues evaluated the efficacy of pentosan polysulphate for improving lower urinary tract signs in 107 cats with feline interstitial cystitis in a 6 month multicenter, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial. Endpoints included cystoscopic parameters as well as signs observed by the owner’s evaluation. No statistically significant differences in improvement were observed between any of the groups based on the owners evaluation or overall improvement in cystoscopic score. Signs of LUTS improved equally in both groups of cats.
