In the "inverse" method, the Bi223 is removed by selective absorption from the Ac225 solution and then desorbed for further use. The direct method is more convenient for clinical application, but the admixture of Ac227 may be a problem. Further purification is possible. The yields are limited not only by Ac225 production rate but also by radiation damage to the sorbent resins.
