Christopher P. Evans, MD

Christopher P. Evans, MD, FACS is Professor and Chairman, Department of Urology, University of California, Davis, School of Medicine. Dr. Evans is a graduate of the University of Vermont and received his M.D. Degree from Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, New Hampshire. Dr. Evans received a United States Army Health Services Professional Scholarship and served as the Chief of Experimental Surgery at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. Dr. Evans completed surgery and urology training at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine where he was also a National Kidney Foundation Research Scholar. He performed a fellowship in Urologic Surgical Oncology at the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Evans joined the University of California, Davis School of Medicine in 1997 and is a member of the U.C. Davis Cancer Center and Co-Director of the U.C. Davis GU Oncology Clinical Trials Group.

Dr. Evans served on the Board of Directors of the Society of Urologic Oncology, is past President of the Urologic Research Society and has participated on numerous committees in the American Association for Cancer Research. Dr. Evans is on the Editorial Board and an Associate Editor of Prostate Cancer and Prostatic Diseases, British Journal of Urology and the World Journal of Urology. He previously was the bladder cancer Section Editor for Current Opinion in Urology. Dr. Evans is active in grant reviews for the American Cancer Society, the Department of Defense Prostate Program, the National Cancer Institute and the VA Merit Review Program. He is a Faculty Co-Chairman of the Annual Winter Urologic Forum. Dr. Evans professional affiliations include fellowship in the American College of Surgeons, the American Association for Advancement of Science, the American Association for Cancer Research, Southwest Oncology Group, Society of Urologic Oncology, the American Urological Association and its Western Section, Society for Basic Urologic Research and the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States. He has received numerous awards to include the Joseph F. McCarthy Essay Contest of the American Urological Association, the New York Academy of Medicine Edwin Beer Award and election into the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons.

Dr. Evans maintains an active research laboratory focusing on prostate cancer and specifically signal transduction regulation of the androgen receptor. He has received research funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, the American Cancer Society, the New York Academy of Medicine, The Prostate Cancer Foundation, the California Cancer Research Program, and the University of California Cancer Research Committee.
