The Program Committee, under the direction of Dr. John Forrest, has put together an excellent scientific program. The AUA President-Elect, Dr. Datta Wagle, from Williamsville, New York, will give his presidential address Wednesday afternoon, followed by the Resident Essay Finalist Podium Session, and a state-of-the-art lecture on, “PSA and Its Use in Urology,” provided by Dr. Peter Carroll, from the University of California, San Francisco. We will continue with the format of point / counterpoint lectures, with the first being on the subject of, “Management of High Grade Stage T1 Transitional Cell Carcinoma of the Urinary Bladder” on Thursday, and end the day with the T. Leon Howard Imaging Session. Friday will remain a half-day scientific session with a state-of-the-art lecture on, “Contemporary Management
of Urethral Stricture Disease,” by Dr. Gerald Jordan from Norfolk, Virginia. On Saturday, we will have the Presidential Address on, “The Specialty of Urology: The Future’s So Bright We Gotta Wear Shades,” followed by the Presidential Guest Lecturer, Dr. Wayne Sotile, and a socioeconomic update followed by a point / counterpoint on, “Radical Prostatectomy Versus Brachytherapy for Localized Prostate Cancer” between Dr. E. David Crawford and Dr. Nelson Stone. This year, we decided to host an AUA-sponsored CME course on ultrasound imaging for the prostate, with a twenty-five-person limit, which we hope to expand to a broader participation in the very near future.
