This course reviews the latest developments in the understanding of the normal anatomy and function of the pelvic floor as a background for evaluating and managing the various alterations using currently available tools. Focusing on the circumstances leading to deleterious effects of parturition and surgical treatment on pelvic floor and organ function, it reviews the added effect of aging on bladder and urethral functions in deciding on the optimal long-term choice of treatment. Potential hazards of the latest technological innovations and their avoidance and management are reviewed. The role of prophylactic C/S discussed and round table discussions allow for direct personal interactions with faculty regarding their experience in specific cases.
