ARNHEM, THE NETHERLANDS (Press Release) - September 2006 - The European society for urological research (ESUR) will host its 17th congress in Malmö, Sweden from 14 to 16 September.
The meeting will enable delegates to get an update on recent developments in bench research from gene to clinics. Another important research development is the Clinical Trialists Database. The ultimate goal of the meeting is to build new bridges between molecular biology researchers and daily practising clinicians, to the benefit of patients with urogenital diseases and disorders. The chairmen are Professors Per-Anders Abrahamsson and Anders Bjartell, both from Malmö, Sweden. ESUR´s aim is to bring together basic and clinical researchers and to promote high quality science relevant to urological diseases. The meeting presidents, together with the board members, have developed a scientific programme with a focus on novel important findings. The main topics are:
The fact that many young investigators have decided to submit their work for oral and poster presentations reflects the vitality of ESUR in the world of competitive science. It is particularly important that coordinators of EU research programmes will present their experience and discuss how to unite the best European research laboratories in the 7th research programme funded by European Union. The development of the Clinical Trailists Database is another topic that will definitely be discussed. This database is being developed by the EAU Research Office. It collects characteristics from European urological centres interested in participating in clinical trials. That way, the EAU Research Office will get a better overview of the clinical research potential of the European urologists.
