CANCUN, MEXICO (UroToday.com) - Coverage of the 25th Annual World Congress of Endourology and SWL - Cancun, Mexico - Thursday November 1, 2007

Dr. Byun and colleagues presented their experience with the 12 patients who sustained blunt traumatic intraperitoneal bladder rupture (n = 6) and iatrogenic distal ureteral injury (n = 6). The group found that these injuries can be repaired laparoscopically with low complication rates, rapid post operative recovery and excellent cosmesis.

This paper suggests that not only diagnostic, but therapeutic application of minimally invasive techniques may be incorporated into the blunt abdominal trauma setting.

Session: Laparoscopy Miscellaneous
Moderators: Sijo Parekattil (USA) and Miguel Gonzalez (Mexico)
Seok-Soo Byun, Adriano Campagna, Mary Beth Schulte, Eduardo Varella Gewehr, Mario Chammas, Fernando Kim
