ANAHEIM, CA (UroToday.com) - Dr. Seth Capello and the group from Rochester, NY led by Dr. J Joseph presented outcomes of robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RALP) by patient age. Patients were divided by age ranges less than 50 years (n=49), 50-59 years (n=292), 60-69 years (n=362), and 70 years (n=51). There were no significant differences between groups in positive margin rates, estimated blood loss, total operating time, or complications. They did note a trend higher transfusion rate, increased tumor grade and stage with increasing age. Dr. Blute commented that in his experience there is a trend toward delayed return of continence in elderly patients undergoing prostatectomy. Moderators: Michael L. Blute and Douglas M Dahl UroToday.com Full Conference Reports
