Dynamic Enhanced MRI May Replace Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound and Voiding Cystography for Investigation of Hydronephrosis in Children

BERKELEY, CA (UroToday Inc.) - Doctors at the Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta studied anatomy and renal function in 96 children with dynamic enhanced MRI and compared these studies with the combinations of nuclear medicine scans (NM), ultrasound studies (US) and voiding cystograms (VCUG). All children had MRI, and most had each of the other studies.

Cooper and his colleagues at the University of Iowa describe the results of their 21-question survey of elementary school teachers in Iowa. They sent 1000 surveys; 464 were returned. Representations of grades kindergarten, 1,2,3,4 or higher were uniform.

Renal-Pelvic Diameter Predicts Need for Surgery in Neonatal UPJ Obstruction

BERLIN (Reuters Health) - Children with ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction who experience increases in renal pelvic diameter are nearly twice as likely to develop renal deterioration requiring corrective surgery, according to a report presented at the World Congress of Nephrology on Monday.
