ANAHEIM, CA (UroToday.com) - In a double-blind, randomized comparison of levofloxacin 750mg once daily for 5 days versus ciprofloxacin 400/500mg twice daily for 10 days in the treatment of complicated urinary tract infection and pyelonephritis by Khashab and co-workers from New Jersey, there was no difference in efficacy between the two regimens. One can speculate that the shorter dose of ciprofloxacin may have had equal efficacy, but that was not addressed in the study design.
