SCHAUMBURG, ILLINOIS, USA (Press Release) - MAY 18, 2008 - The Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA) announced today a public education program commemorating a decade of revolutionary treatment of erectile dysfunction. The first tablet to successfully treat ED was introduced 10 years ago. The goal of the education campaign is to increase awareness and understanding of ED and its relationship to cardiovascular health and provide evidence based advice on other men’s health topics. The first phase of the program will consist of a series of town hall meetings across North America, to which men and their spouses will be invited to directly question experts on all aspects of men’s sexual health. It is hoped that this first phase of the program will stimulate a National Conversation on Men’s Health. The first Town Hall Meeting will be held in Toronto, Canada on October 15, 2008. This meeting as well as those that follow will be edited into a series of web casts that will be available on the SMSNA education website at www.sexhealthmatters.org which is open to all viewers. The website will be updated regularly with information regarding this multiphase educational program.

Funding for The National Conversation on Men's Health is provided via a sponsorship by Pfizer, Inc.

The SMSNA is an affiliate of the American Urological Association, Inc. Founded in 1992, the purpose of the SMSNA is to promote, encourage and support research and education in the study of the anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of human sexual function and dysfunction.

The SMSNA President, Laurence Levine, Professor of Urology, Rush University in Chicago, IL stated "Much has changed in the world of Sexual Health over the past decade. Thanks to the sponsorship from Pfizer, Inc the SMSNA will be able to provide useful information to the general public on a wide range of important and timely sexual health topics."

This release was prepared by Gregory A. Broderick, MD, Chair, SMSNA Publications Committee.
