NCCN Guidelines Update Webinar Series™ Kidney Cancer program overview Show Comments PDF Print E-mail

Monday, 09 November 2009

FORT WASHINGTON, PA, USA (Press Release) - November 9, 2009 - Patients with kidney cancer traditionally have not had many treatment choices. Surgery and/or difficult to tolerate immunotherapy was all that was available. In addition, because few early symptoms are visible, patients are often diagnosed late with advanced disease. With the FDA approvals of new agents for renal cell carcinoma, a paradigm shift has occurred in the way patients with renal cell carcinomas are treated. In the past two years, patients have gained access to treatments that have been shown to be effective in tumor reduction with fewer side effects than previous cytokine regimens.

The NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology™ Kidney Cancer provides sequential recommendations for the management of renal cell carcinomas. This webinar will discuss recent, significant updates to the NCCN Guidelines for Kidney Cancer including comparison of new data with existing standards of care, involved patient subsets, and risk-benefit analysis in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease as well as a review of the significant studies that supported modification of the NCCN Guidelines Panels’ recommendations.
