David Castro-Diaz, MD
David Castro-Diaz received his medical degree from the University of La Laguna (Canary Islands, Spain) in 1979. Dr. Castro-Diaz completed his training in the UK and USA. In 1990 he was appointed as Full Professor of Urology at the University of La Laguna.
His main clinical and research interest is focused on Voiding Dysfunction and Female Urology. He is a member of several international scientific societies and editorial boards. He has been Scientific Chairman of the Spanish Association of Urology and member of the Board of the European School of Urology (Education Office of the European Association of Urology). At present he serves as Vice-President of the Spanish Association of Urology. Dr. Castro-Diaz is Professor of Urology and Consultant Urologist at the University Hospital of the Canary Islands.

Yasuhiko Igawa, MD, PhD
Dr. Yasuhiko Igawa is associate professor in the Department of Urology, Shinshu University School of Medicine, Matsumoto, Japan. He received his MD from Shinshu University School of Medicine in 1982. After he completed residencies of urology at the Shinshu University Hospital, he was certified as urologist in 1987 and as consultant urologist in 1993 by the board of Japan Urological Association. He received his Degree of Medical Science from Shinshu University School of Medicine and PhD from Faculty of Medicine, University of Lund in 1994. He became associate professor at the Department of Urology, Shinshu University School of Medicine in 1995, and was promoted to the present position there in 1997.
Dr. Igawa is a member of many professional societies that include Japanese Urological Association(JUA, 1982-), Japanese Neurogenic Bladder Society(JNBS, 1983-), ICS (1985-), AUA (1995-) and SIU (1996-). He has served as Co-chairman of the Committee on Conservative Management in the Neuropathic Patient” of 1st and 2nd International Consultation on Incontinence (ICI) held in 1998 and 2001, respectively and as a member of the Committee on Neurogenic Patients of 3rd ICI in 2004. He has also served as a Clinical Representative of the ICS scientific Committee since august, 2007.
Dr. Igawa’s fields of interest lie in neurourology and pediatric urology, especially in voiding function and dysfunction, the physiology and pharmacology of the lower urinary tract and urinary reconstructive surgery. He has published more than70 peer-reviewed articles in international scientific journals.

Apichana Kovindha, M.D., Associate Professor
Dr. Apichana Kovindha received a medical degree in 1980 from Chiang Mai University (CMU), Thailand. In 1991 she was appointed as Associate Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, CMU.
Since 2000 she has been the Head of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, CMU. She is a member of the editorial board of Spinal Cord and of the educational committee of ISCoS. During 2005-2006, she was the President of the Royal College of Physiatrists of Thailand and of the Thai Rehabilitation Medicine Association and in 2007 she has become the editor of the Journal of Thai Rehabilitation Medicine. During 2006-2007, she joined the multi-center research study on ICF core set for SCI as a regional coordinator for SEA region and on the Thai Stroke Rehabilitation Registry.

Helmut G. Madersbacher, MD, Professor
Dr. Helmut Madersbacher received his medical degree from the University of Innsbruck. He obtained the Austrian specialist degree in Urology in 1969, completed his PhD in 1975 and was appointed Associate Professor of Urology at the Innsbruck University hospital in the same year. His interest already at that time was lower urinary tract dysfunction, neuro-urology. In 1995 he became head of a newly founded Neuro-Urology Unit at the Innsbruck University Hospital.
He is a founding member of the working group on Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction and Female Urology of the German Urological Association, in 1996/97 he became Council member of the International Medical Society of Paraplegia. He founded the Austrian Continence Society in1989, was President of the Austrian Urological Society 1993/95 and became a Board member of the International Consultation of Incontinence, in 1998 and 2001 as chairman, in 2004 as vice-chairman of the committee on the conservative management of neurogenic urinary incontinence. He was President of the European Board of Urology between 2000/2002 and is still a Board member of the European Urologic Association as chairman of the European Urology- Accredited Continuous Medical Education (EU-ACME) Office. He is honorary member and member of several international scientific societies.

Dr. Madersbacher´s research interest is clinical Neuro-Urology including long term care of patients with myelomeningocele and electro neurophysiologic testing of lower urinary tract function.

Piotr Radziszewski, MD, Professor
Piotr Radziszewski is Associate Professor of Urology at the Department of Urology, Medical University of Warsaw, Poland. He is head of the Functional Urology and Urogynecology Unit. Prof. Radziszewski is a member of EAU Strategy Plannig Committee and ICS Publication and Communication Office. Piotr Radziszewski was also a member pof Committee XII during the 2004 Consultations on Incontinence in Monaco.
His main scientific interests are new treatment modalities of overactive bladder and pelvic pain, using newly discovered drugs such as neurotoxin and active biological substances

Alain Ruffion, MD, PhD
Dr. Alain Ruffion received his medical degree from the University of Lyon in 1998, where he subsequently worked as a lecturer in Urology. He completed his Ph.D. at the Department of Urology, Claude Bernard University in 2003. He is currently senior consultant in Urology in the Lyon Sud Urologic Surgery Department.
His main areas of interest are oncologic urology and neurourology. He is currently at
the Head of the French Neuro-urological research committee. He has been research fellow (2001-2002) in the Department of Urologic oncology of the Royal Hallamshire Hospital of Sheffield, UK.
He is a member of many scientific societies including the French Urologists Association, the European Association of Urology, and the Groupe d’Etudes Francophone en Neuro-Urologie. He also serves on the review committee of several journals including Progrès en Urologie and the Journal of Urology.

Ryuji Sakakibara, MD, Phd
Dr. Ryuji Sakakibara received his medical degree from the Asahikawa Medical College in 1984. Because of interest in clinical neurology, he moved forward to Chiba University where he subsequently worked as an assistant Professor, and a Lecturer in the Department of Neurology. He completed his Ph.D. at the Department of Neurology, Chiba University, in 1992. From 1997 to 1998 he was a research fellow in the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery / Institute of Neurology, Queen Square, London, supervised by Professor Clare J. Fowler in the Department of Uro-Neurology. In March 2007 he started a new Department of Neurology in Toho University, Sakura Medical Center, Sakura, Japan as an Associate Professor.
He is a member of the Association of British Neurologists, the American Academy of Neurology, the International Society for Autonomic Neuroscience, the European Federation of Autonomic Societies, the American Autonomic Society, and the International Continence Society. He also serves as an adhoc reviewer of several journals including Urology, Journal of Urology, Clinical Physiology, American Journal of Physiological Medicine, Neuroscience Letters, Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry, Journal of Neurology, European Journal of Neurology, Movement Disorders, and Muscle and Nerve.
SYNOPSIS OF AREA OF INTEREST: Dr. Sakakibara's research interests include urogenital and gastrointestinal physiology, drug trials and clinical neurology including Parkinson’s disease and multiple system atrophy.

Brigitte Schurch, MD, Professor
Professor of Neuro-Urology at Paraplegic Centr
Prof Brigitte Schurch graduated from University of Strasbourg (France) and was trained in Neurorehabilitation in Strasbourg, Los Angeles, and Geneva. Since 1998, she is the head of the Department of Neuro-Urology of the Paraplegic Centre at theUniversity Hospital Balgrist, Zurich, Switzerland. Her professional interest is on diagnosis and management of neurogenic bladder dysfunction.
She is a member of numerous international societies (International Continence Society, International Spinal Cord Society, European Association of Urology). Her research is focused on neurophysiology, neurophysiopathology and neuro-imaging of the lower urinary tract as well as on new therapeutic approaches for neurogenic bladder.

Jean-Jacques Wyndaele, MD
Jean Jacques Wyndaele did his medical studies at the University Ghent. He became consecutively candidate Medical Sciences and Medical Doctor, Specialist in Urology, Doctor in Science, Specialist in Rehabilitation, PhDoctor in Urology. After an academic career at the University Ghent he became Professor and Chairman of Urology at University Antwerp (UA) and University Hospital Antwerp (UZA), positions he holds up to today.He is consulting urologist in two Rehabilitation Centres “Hof ter Schelde” Antwerp, and “CTR” Brussels. As well as the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine UA and member of different central organisations related to education and health care in Belgium.
He is Fellow of the International Spinal Cord Society and Fellow of the
European Board of Urology. He is European School of Urology Faculty member and is
member of EAU, AUA, IUGA, BSU, SBU, BVU, SUFU, ICS.
His scientific work has been mainly on sensory function of the lower urinary tract, neurourology, incontinence, spinal cord medicine. Bladder sensation has had his full attention and is still the main topic of the scientific research in his department both in the Animal Research Lab of the Urological Department UA as in the Clinical Research unit at UZA
