RA Leung1, D Weiss , G Bartsch , W Horninger , AK Tewari 2 3 3 1 Introduction: Advancements in the technique of Robotic Radical Prostatectomy (RRP) have allowed for treatment of localized prostate cancer. We aim to compare RRP and ORP with respect to cancer control using cohorts of patients from two institutions. Method: We define cancer control as the presence of a tumor at the inked margin (SM+) on final pathology. Our exclusion criteria for analysis limited cases to TNM stages T2c and below. Data for the RRP cohort were collected Result: The RRP cohort had a mean age of 61 [46 - 75], mean PSA of 5.7 [.33 - 28], and mean Primary Gleason Score of 3 [0 - 5]. The ORP cohort had a mean age of 59 [32 - 78], mean PSA of 4.9 [0 - 34.3], and mean Primary Gleason Score of 2.87 [2 - 5]. The OR for comparison of RRP and ORP for all organ confined cancers (T2c and below) was 0.42 95% CI [0.19 , 0.94]. The OR for T2c cancers only was 0.36 [0.15 , 0.84]. Conclusion: Our analysis shows that within organ confined disease there is at least a tenable theory that RRP offers comparable cancer control outcomes to ORP.
